The reconstruction is part of a comprehensive substation automation program that includes updating equipment, implementing modern switchgear schemes, installing automated process control systems (APCS), and increasing the efficiency and reliability of electricity transmission.

The project delivered:

• 35 kV switchgear: OVB-VBF 40.25.32 vacuum circuit breakers, TRO 73.11 current transformers, TJO 7 voltage transformers.
• RZiA and monitoring: RPV311 multifunctional recorders, RA33 data acquisition modules, CB Watch 3 systems for 110 kV and 220 kV circuit breakers, S20 industrial control switches and devices H49 redundancy.

Thanks to this project, the Boryslav substation received a modern infrastructure with the possibility of remote control and monitoring, which meets international standards of reliability and safety.

The modernization is being carried out as part of a comprehensive substation automation program financed by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The program provides for a complete upgrade of 330, 110, and 35 kV distribution facilities, replacement of equipment that has reached the end of its service life, and implementation of automated process control systems. This solution will improve the efficiency of electricity transmission and enable remote control of the facility from the dispatch center.

A separate stage of the reconstruction will be the installation of a new 330/110/35 kV autotransformer with a capacity of 200 MVA. This will significantly increase the substation's throughput capacity and support industrial development in the city of Kovel and surrounding areas.

The supply, carried out by General Energy, included vacuum circuit breakers, current and voltage transformers for 35 kV switchgear, protection devices and recorders for 110 and 330 kV connections, data acquisition modules, industrial switches, and switch status monitoring systems. This equipment complies with international standards and ensures the safe and stable operation of power grids even during peak load periods.

Thanks to the implementation of this project, the Kovel substation will receive modern infrastructure ready for new challenges and needs of the region, and will also become an important element in increasing the reliability of the entire energy system of Ukraine.

The project involved converting the substation to 110/35/10/6 kV with the installation of a new T-4 110/35/10 kV power transformer and the necessary high-voltage equipment. This decision was driven by the growth in electricity consumption in the region among both the population and industrial enterprises.

The increase in voltage class will reduce electricity losses, stabilize the voltage level, and maintain the load on network elements within acceptable limits.

The technical re-equipment included the replacement of the T-2 power transformer of the TDTNG-40500/110/ZTZ type with a new TDTN-40000/110-U1 transformer, which will ensure increased reliability and efficiency of the facility.
